Katherine never sailed the isles of Greece, nor drank champagne on a yacht; she never became business woman of the year; neither did she spend any of her valuable time net-working; nor did she waste any of her time constantly staring into a lifeless screen of some smart phone, following and keeping up with her "contacts;" rather, she spent her limited God-given time looking into the eyes of her precious little treasures, her children. She never wrote a book; she never became mayor or senator: What she did do in her short life here on earth, and who she was, was and Is so very much more! so very much more than any of the vain, selfish and shallow, plastic and passing worldly pursuits and "success" that so many women now seek today. Yes, what she did accomplish and who she was, was and Is so very much more! and will endure throughout all of eternity...
She was a good and godly woman who faithfully fulfilled her God-given vocation as both housewife and mother, who raised her family the best she could before she had to part at such a young age, dying from tuberculosis, having to say her goodbyes before all her children were yet fully grown, Gregor at fourteen, Leo at ten, Alexia (my mother) at nine, Edith at seven, and little Johnny at only three or four years of age, loving and caring for her children and husband the best she could until the very bitter end, just as the Most Holy and Blessed Mother Mary loved and cared for Jesus and Joseph. And, just as the Virgin Mary did, Katie also gave her "yes" to God and to new life, allowing herself to become a co-creator with God and her husband, bringing six infinite, beautiful, and precious souls into existence.
Most importantly, she then made sure to pass onto her children her family's most precious Christian faith, which, if followed, would allow her children, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren to enter into eternal life, enjoying perfect love, happiness, and peace for all of eternity, not only with her but also with God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, the Most Holy and Blessed Mother Mary, and all the angels and saints in heaven. Yes, Katherine lived a very blessed, well-spent, and full life in her short time here on earth, and she will forever be remembered and loved by her family...
We love you grandma!
"Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I raised thee up under the apple tree: there thy mother brought thee forth: there she brought thee forth that bare thee.
"Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.
"Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned (Song Of Solomon 8:5-7)."
