She was born in Arlington, Upshur County. She was a 60-year member of Calvary Baptist Church, Charleston, where she served as a teacher in the primary department for over 35 years, and a choir member and a faithful volunteer at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston. She walked through the Garden of Gethsemane, laid her hand on the rock where Jesus prayed, took a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, walked the road where Jesus carried the cross and visited many other sites in the Holy Land.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, James R. Thacker.

Surviving are her sons, the Rev. James R. Thacker of Osprey, Fla., and Edger W. Thacker of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Christie Tomes of Richmond, Va., Jerusha Barns of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Christopher Thacker of New Orleans, La.; and great-grandchildren, Andrea Tomes, Eva Thacker Zoey Thacker and Brennen Barnes.

Service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, Charleston, with the Rev. Archie Snedegar officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
