The 1940 Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas Census lists Ilo McMillan, 34, and wife Florence, 35, with children: Mary Lynne, 8; Phyllis Emily, 6; and Arthur, 3. Florence and Ilo have four year high school educations, Ilo is a credit manager for the automobile industry. Florence's sister Iola Barger, 33, a widow is also living with the family. She is a four year high school graduate and is working as a photographer.

Florence was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in late 1978. In June of 1979 she was losing weight and her symptoms became more serious. Many doctors were consulted to no avail, her family prayed that the Lord would take her and relieve her suffering.
