Madeline, affectionately known as Tillie, was born in Gibbstown on 7/16/192 to Pasquale and Caroline DiBenedetto. She was a lifelong resident of Gibbstown for over 92 years. Tille also owned and enjoyed property in Brigantine since 1955 where she was one of the first to build a summer home in Brigantine, NJ from the Gloucester County area.
Tillie owned and managed the original Johnny's Food Market in Gibbstown and 2 other food markets in Paulsboro and Brooklawn for over 25 years. She also owned and managed 8 rental properties up until her death.
Through the years, Tillie raised 5 children, and loved to have them visit her as frequently as possible. She also enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, the Jersey shore and especially the casinos. In her senior years, she became very close to her special girlfriends where she had wonderful times. Her other passion in life was shopping at upscale clothing and jewelry stores.
Tillie was a very independent, strong willed and hard working woman. One of her famous mottos was "hard work will never hurt you" as she installed this work ethic into her children.
Tille was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, St. Michael's Mutual Club, Ladies Auxiliary and the Gibbstown Seior Citizens Club.
Tillie was the beloved mother of 5 children, John Petracci, Jr., Mimi Monte(John), Carole Medeiros, Darlene Wagner(George) and Lewis Petracci(Norma). Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 13 nieces and nephews.
