Celia Elva Dayley Evans, 86, passed away September 8, 1994 in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born on January 10, 1908 in the View area, near Burley, ID. the daughter of Heber and Mary Ellen Matthews Dayley. She married James Earl Evans on February 21, 1940 in Burley. Elva was well known as an accomplished gardener and won national recognition and many awards for hybridizing and showing her irises. She was one of the first telephone swithcboard operators in Burley, beginning in 1927 and working for AT&T until 1944. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn (Terry) Updegrove, Salt lake City, three brothers and their wives, Clifford and Dutchie Dayley, Richfield, ID., Ert Dayley, Paramount, CA and Kenneth and Welda Dayley, Versailles, KY., two grandchildren, Lann (Vivian) Richardson and Kara(Bruce) Roy, four great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Lois Johnson Achziger, two step-grandchildren, Kristina & Danielle and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was precedded in death by her her beloved son, Kay Richardson, parents, three brothers, Clyde, Clarence, Cecil, and sister, Ella. Burial was at Pleasant View Cemetary, Burley, ID.
