Eli E. Clement of Mineral Wells, age 87, died March 6, 2001 at a Mineral Wells hospital.

He was born in Oklaunion on April 23, 1913, to Elmer C. and Sudie Ethel Stansell Clement.

He married Rita Dunham on March 19, 1944 in Bowie. She preceded him in death on January 21, 1990.

Clement had lived in Mineral Wells most of his life where he was a traveling salesman for West Tape and Label.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of VFW Post 2399, the Knights of Pythias and the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy and her husband, Earl Bland, of Mineral Wells; grandchildren: Nancy Anastasio of Seaside, CA; Neilee Weir of Mineral Wells and Brandon Clement of Waxahachie;

A great-granddaughter, Danielle Hope Weir of Mineral Wells; four step-children, a sister, Mabel Clement of Wellington; a niece, Patsy Ranson of Lamesa; a nephew, Dr. Robert Clement of Austin; a sister-in-law, Lily Clement of Lamesa and a special friend, Dick Reed of Mineral Wells.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Inez Clement and a brother, Stansell Clement.
