“Well Known Resident Here Died on Monday
Mrs. Lucy Strayer Born at Meadville, Pa., Passed Away in This Village; Aged 90.
Mrs. Lucy Strayer, a well known and highly respected resident of Bolivar, passed away at her home on Friendship street at 1:50 o’clock Monday morning, Oct. 24, after a long illness. Cerebral hemorrhage was given as the cause of death.
Deceased was born at Meadville, Pa., Nov. 16, 1841. She was a daughter of David Trace and Harriet Lindsay Trace.
For the past 40 years she had lived in Bolivar where she was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and a charter member of Trilby Rebekah Lodge No. 169. She leaves many friends here to mourn her death.
Her husband, L. D. Strayer, died on Dec. 13, 1921. Surviving are: one son, Edward [sic] Strayer of Bolivar; two daughters, Mrs. Hattie Fay of Wellsville and Mrs. M. C.
Bascom of this village; one sister, Mrs. Adeline Johnson of Helena, O., and three brothers, O. A. Trace of Norward, O., B. e. Trace of Meadville, Pa., and Homer D. Trace of Cleveland.
Funeral services were held at her late home here at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. W. N. Mason, pastor of the Richburg First Baptist church, officiating. The pallbearers were: Percy M. Jordan, Thomas Sinsabaugh, Arthur C. Shaner, and Frank Dougherty.
Burial was made in the family lot in Maplelawn cemetery in Bolivar.
Among the out of town relatives and friends in attendance were: Mr. and Mrs. John Fay, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Fay, Miss Mildred Fay, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Harder, Mrs. Helen Taylor, Wellsville; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fay, Scio; Mrs. Clinton McAhon, Troupsburg; Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Trace, Meadville. Others were present from Little Genesee, Wellsville and Olean.”
