Mrs. Mary Volentine Tarver, 73, sister of a Monroe woman, Mrs. Ruth Mercer, died unexpectedly Friday night in a Columbia hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Grayson Methodist Church with the Rev. J. P. McKeithen officiating and the Rev. Theron McKisson assisting.

Burial will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son's Funeral Home of Columbia.

Survivors include her husband, James N. Tarver, Grayson; three daughters, Miss Lillian Tarver, Grayson; Mrs. Alvin Grant, Pineville; and Mrs. W. C. Kirk, Winnsboro; one son, Willis A. Tarver, Denver, Colo.; and two brothers, Richard Volentine, Grayson; and George Volentine, New Orleans; three other sisters, Mrs. Josey Simmons and Mrs. Equilda Douglas, both of Grayson, and Mrs. Ethel Hollinsworth; residence unknown; and four grandchildren.
