Florence P. Allen
WARREN - Florence Phillips Allen, 71, of 636 Third St. S.W., died Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Riverside Hospital from carcinoma.
She was born Sept. 7, 1922, in Demopolis, Ala., a daughter of Boykin and Mary Edwards Phillips. She has lived in the area for 45 years.
She was a housewife and a member of Progressive Baptist Church, for which she served as past deaconess. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and cooking.
She is survived by her husband, David Allen Sr., whom she married Jan. 14, 1939. Also surviving is a son, David Allen Jr. of Warren; nine daughters, Mrs. Maymie Cayson Hunt, Mrs. Laura R. Mason, Ms. Martha Ann Allen, Mrs. Elaine Small, Ms. Diana Allen, Mrs. Priscilla Renee Taylor, all of Warren; one brother, Jerome Fenderson of Leavittsburg; three sisters, Mrs. Della Lynch of Demopolis, Mrs. Willie Lee Saunders of Akron and Mrs. Alice Davis of Elyria; a step-sister Mrs. Minnie Tripp of Demopolis; 29 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Jimmy James and Titus Allen, and one brother, Oliver Phillips, are deceased.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Progressive Baptist Church.
