Albert H. Daehler, Professor of English At CC, Passes Away
Albert H. Daehler, Bemis professor of English at Colorado College since 1920, died this morning at a local hospital after a long illness. Prof. Daehler came to Colorado College in 1919 and was associate professor English until 1921 when he became full professor. He was an exchange professor at Knox college during the first semester of 1938 and 1939. Prof. Daehler was born in Chadwick, Ill., in 1883. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1908 and was an instructor there from 1910 until 1914. He became an assistant professor in 1914 and retained the rank until 1918 when he became an associate professor. Surviving are his wife, the former Marjorie Barron, a graduate of Colorado College, two daughters, Alice and Mary Daehler, and three brothers, Oscar Daehler, Fred Daehler, and Herman Daehler, all of Chadwick, Ill. Swan Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements which are to be announced later. Dr. Thurston J. Davies, president of Colorado College, termed Prof. Daehler's death a "deep personal loss." "It is a deep personal loss as well as a loss to the institution," President Davies said. "He was honored and loved not only for his brilliant intellect but also as a man."
