DORIS JANE PORTERFIELD, 81, died Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Homewood in Williamsport, Md.


Born August 19, 1924 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Claude Knode Humrichouse and Beulah Florence Weagley Humrichouse.


She had received her degrees at Hood College and Columbia University in New York City.


He was a teacher at Hagerstown High School from 1946 to 1954; a Registrar/Instructor with Hagerstown Junior College from 1954 to 1957; Director of Music at Winchester Avenue Christian Church from 1963 to 1978; and also Zion United Church of Christ in Hagerstown from 1978 to 1987.


She was a member of Zion Reformed United Church of Christ, Hagerstown; the Treble Clef Club; Woodmen of the World; member of the Church Women United Auxiliary; service workers of Zion Reformed Church - served as president for 6 years; member Homewood Auxiliary and Hoffman Homes Auxiliary; and member of the Adult Choir of Zion Church.


She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Rev. Joseph Porterfield; and son, David A. Porterfield, Martinsburg.


Memorial service Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11 am at Zion Reformed Church of Christ with Rev. Robert Royal and Chaplain Reginald Rice officiating. Interment will be private in Rose Hill Cemetery.
