Ethel was born December 28, 1910 in Silver City, Utah to Joseph Mount and Lena Christiansen Taylor. She married Byron Reed MacKay on January 12, 1934 and together they raised their three children. Ethel was a member of Alla Tek Hollitha Literary Society and in 1928 she graduated from Latter-day Saints College at ceremonies held in the Salt Lake Tabernacle which were presided over by President Heber J. Grant and Elder James E. Talmage.
Ethel served as Relief Society president of the East Stratford Ward. She was an active member of the Willowcreek 9th Ward where she enjoyed serving in many positions including temple worker for many years at the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples. She was an active Genealogist. Ethel was loved, respected and a friend to all who knew her. She was always happy to bless the lives of others with her compassion and help.
Her husband Byron and a daughter Sharon Lynn Thurgood preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons; Michael Taylor MacKay (Fay), and Timothy Taylor MacKay, seven grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 26, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services. Funeral Directors: Cottonwood Mortuary.
Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
