Vernon H. Heins, 90, of Concordia, MO, died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at The Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Concordia with Rev. R. Lee Hagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Saint Paul Lutheran High School. Born October 12, 1923 in Concordia, he was the son of the late Theodore Heins and Flora Bargfrede Heins. On September 19, 1948 he married Aileen Kessler who survives of the home. Vernon lived in the Concordia and Higginsville areas his entire life and was a farmer. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
In addition to his wife, Aileen, he is survived by three sons: Ron Heins and wife Karen of Concordia, MO, Jim Heins and wife Charlene of Longmont, CO, and Paul Heins and wife Cindy of Higginsville, MO; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Wilberta Brakenhoff of Fremont, NE; one brother, Melbourne Heins of Wentzville, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Julie Heins; one sister, Dorothy Wienberg; and two brothers, Wilbert Heins and Harvey Heins.
