Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Calexico. The Revs. Edmundo Zarate and Barry Vinyard will officiate.
Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.
Mr. Durazo was born Feb. 17, 1978, in Calexico. He graduated from Calexico High School in 1996, where he loved playing football for the Bulldogs. He was completing his senior year in business administration at the University of San Diego. He developed a passion for business while working at his grandfather's store, Durazo Men's Wear in Calexico and later at Nordstrom's in San Diego.
In his love of fishing he found true delight and fulfillment, his family said. His bright spirit blessed the lives of all who knew him, according to family.
Survivors include his parents Alfonso and Alma Durazo of Calexico; sister and brother-in-law, Mita and Matt Tessier of Chula Vista; future goddaughter and niece, Gabriela Acacia Tessier of Chula Vista; grandmothers, Carmen Durazo and Linda Limon, both of Calexico; aunts and uncles, Carmen Durazo of Calexico, Annabelle and Charles Dessert of El Centro, Alba and David Garcia of Vista and Sylvia and Darrell Benning of La Mesa; and many cousins, relatives and friends.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the Alfonso Durazo Memorial Fund at the University of San Diego, 5998 Alcala Park, San Diego, CA 92110-2492.
