ATHENS -- Mrs. Emma Allen, died unexpectedly Saturday morning at her home, 14 Maplewood Dr.
She had fractured her hip in a fall March 18.
She was born at Beckley, W. Va., a daughter of the late Dr. John Q. and Mary Watts Stovall.
She was a graduate of Grayson, "Ky.", High School and Morris Harvey College. Prior to her marriage she taught in Kentucky schools for several years.
Following her marriage, she lived in Danville, W. Va., for several years before moving to Athens in 1929.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Grayson, Ky.
Mrs. Allen attends the First United Methodist Church in Athens, was a member of the WSCS and the Martzoff Class of the church. She belonged to the Athens chapter, Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband, William H. Allen; three daughters, Mrs. O. W. (Mary) Davis, Nelsonville; Mrs. Al (Betty) Burris, Hilliard; and Mrs. M. Eugene (Mildred) Bleigh, Athens; two sons, Dr. William H. Allen Jr., Athens and Tom Allen, Munster, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and a brother, Albert Stovall, Mobile, Ala.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Services will be Monday, 3 p.m. in the Hughes Funeral Home by Dr. Clyde C. Pinnell. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
