ESCALANTE - Aleva Barker, 93, of Santa Rosa, California, and formerly of Escalante, Utah, died January 23, 1996 in Streator Ill. She was born January 21, 1903, in Escalante to Peter Orrin Barker and Johanna Roundy Barker.

She enjoyed sewing, Crocheting, riding horses and bingo. She also likes playing the horses. Aleva was a loving mother and grandmother and she will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two sons, Ron Service, Santa Rosa, California and Wayne Service and his wife Judy of Newark, California; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Elsie Fitts, Salt Lake City, Utah; Elda Haws, Escalante, Utah; Elvin Barker, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Ned Barker, Eugene, Oregon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters - Lazell Barker, Clora Lay, Dee Barker, Gwen Haycock, and Larene Barker.

Graveside Services will be held in Escalante with Don Coleman of the Escalante 2nd Ward Bishopric, officiating. A Family Prayer was offered by Ned Barker, a brother. A son, Clyde Service paid a tribute to his mother, followed by a musical selection by Marlene Haws, "In the Garden," accompanied by Susan Wilson. Ray Barney provided the benediction and Freland Alvey dedicated the grave.

Pallbearers were Ron Service, Michael Service, Wayne Service, Mark Service, Jeff Service, Gerald Haycock, Elvin Barker and Klyn Haws.

Burial was at the Escalante City Cemetery.
