James Edward Adams, 73, a retired plumber, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at a Havre care center of natural causes. Cremation has taken place. Burial of cremated remains will take place in a private family service at a later date.

Jim was born July 31, 1928, to Steve and Marjorie (Redmond) Adams in Havre. He was educated in Havre and graduated from Havre High School. James served his country during World War II, the final six weeks of the war in the U.S. Navy.

In January 1947, Jim married Maxine Strand at Havre. To this union, three children were born. He was a self-employed plumber in Montana. The couple moved to Pleasantow, Calif., in 1962 with his job. He returned to Havre in 1989 after retiring. Jim was raised around thoroughbred racehorses with his father and trained them himself while living in Montana.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Marjory (Redmond) Adams; wife, Maxine Strand Adams in 1987, son, Steve Adams; daughter, Jayme Adams; sister, Donna Rowe; brothers Ellsworth Adams, Art Adams, Steve Adams; grandson, Jimmy Adams. Survivors include his son, Tom (Judi) Adams of Havre; sister, Rose Adams, Oroville, Calif.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
