William Dowl "Bill" Benedict, 76, of Hallsville passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at Boone Hospital Center.

Services will be held at noon Wednesday, Nov. 22 at Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial with military honors will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

William was born Nov. 30, 1929, in Boone County, the son of Louie Bradford Benedict and Evelyn Frances Stone. On May 1, 1954, he married Betty Jean Smith in Kansas City, and she survives.

He was a member of the American Legion and past member of the Painters Union. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going mushroom hunting and car races. He loved going to visit family in Tennessee and also go fishing there. He also loved to go camping with his family. William was a gift from God that we now give back to him.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of Hallsville; four children, Evelyn Irene Gates and her husband, Kenneth, of Mexico, Mo., Janet Elaine Woolridge and her husband, Virgil, of Hallsville, David Timothy Benedict of Hallsville, Sherri Ann Rueter and her husband, Jim, of Hallsville; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie, David, Curtis, Michael, Chris, Jessica, Katie, Jessica, Timothy, Sabastian; five great-grandchildren, Keagan, Evannah, Candace, Bradyn, Tyler; two sisters, Letha Stone and her husband, Harold, Patsy Perkins and her husband; Richard; four brothers, Donnie Benedict and his wife, Joyce, Jack Benedict and his wife, Toni, Larry Benedict, and Gary Coffey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Ronald Dean Benedict, Tina Marie Benedict; and one sister, Betty Coffey.
