He was born March 1, 1930 in Weirton, a son of the late Athanasios and Vasilia Kanellou Karastamatis.

After 38 years of service, Nick retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a transportation brakeman. He was a member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church and the WSX 25-Year Club. Nick also served in the US Marines during the Korean War.

He is survived by his brother, Christo Karastamatis of Weirton; sisters Chrissoula Torlidas and her husband William of Pittsburgh, Mary Karavolos and Anna Carney both of Cleveland, OH.
