Juanita Valdez, 75, passed away June 15, 2000. Born June 24, 1924, in Union County, N.M. Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Juan Leonardo Valdez; parents, Felicita and Melquiades Gonzales; sisters, Frances Vigil and Elis Garcia; brother, Julian Gonzales; and granddaughter, Kristina Valdez. Survived by her children, Dorothy Ann (James J.) O'Dowd of Denver, John Leonard Valdez of Denver, Elizabeth Lucille (Joe A.) Maestas of Irvine, Calif., Charles Raymond (Patricia L.) Valdez of Pueblo, Samuel Joseph Valdez of Pueblo West, Elaine Marie (Daniel) Cordova of Loveland, Colo., Tina Lorraine (Sean) Dingle of Pueblo West; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother; and four sisters. Juanita was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active Democrat, a member of the PTA and the Navy Mother's Club. She was retired from School District 60. Juanita was loved by and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting and sewing. Rosary, 7 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Monday. Both services at St. Joseph Church. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens.
