In Memory Of
Essie Clark Anderson
March 21, 1919 - October 14, 2013

Essie Clark Anderson of Carlyle Place passed away October 14, 2013 in Macon. Always referring to Cedar Grove as "home", she will return there in perpetuity with graveside services being held at the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, Laurens County, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 2:00 PM. The Reverend Andy R. Brownley will officiate.
Essie Maud Clark was born in Cedar Grove to Agnes Browning Clark and Clayton Wesley Clark on March 21, 1919. Growing up on a working farm, she graduated from high school in Laurens County before moving to Macon. After completing Crandall Business College, she began her career of 39 years at "the base" (now known as Robins AFB & WR-ALC), soon after it's opening in 1943. Additionally, she was instrumental in the founding of the Robins Federal Credit Union, serving on their Board for many years thereafter. In 1947 she married the late Guy Lancelot Anderson, Jr. and moved to Gray. Immediately becoming an integral part of another very close-knit, loving family and community, she enjoyed the small town lifestyle of a now bygone era. In her retirement she found enjoyment assisting her dear friend, Vivian Lowe, in the management of Lowe's Restaurant in Macon. As long as her health permitted, she volunteered for the Cherry Blossom Festival, Macon-Bibb Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Middle Georgia Historical Society, and Friends of the Library. Her slight stature made her animated enthusiasm and support for the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves most endearing.
The family would especially like to thank the staff of Carlyle Place for her care. Memorial donations can be made to the Cedar Grove UMC, c/o Rebecca Moore, 2941 Chic Inn Road, Alamo, GA 30411.
