Anne E. [Houlahan] Wippel Cox, 84, of Ellensburg, died Sunday, September 27, 1922 at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital in Ellensburg. She was born on October 22, 1907 in Seattle. She was the last of the five remaining Houlahan sisters born to William T. and Helena J. (Couterre) Houlahan.

Mrs. Cox graduated from West Seattle High School in 1926. She received her B.A. in home economics from the University of Washington in 1931 and her M.A. in home economics from Columbia University in New York in 1950.

Mrs. Cox conducted workshops in Hawaii, taught home ec in Burlington and Bremerton, was state supervisor of home economics in Olympia and she taught home ec at Central Washington College. During World War II she served with the U.S.O. in Vancouver, Washington.

Mrs. Cox was first married to Charles M. Morgan in 1951 in Tacoma. He preceded her in death in 1953. In 1956 she married Melvin N. Wippel in Ellensburg, where they made their home in the Woldale Area. Mr. Wippel preceded her in death in 1979. Mrs. Cox then married Fred G.Cox in Ellensburg in 1985.

She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, St. Andrews Altar Society, Woldale Thursday Club, Friday Club, Kittitas County Retired Teachers (President from 1982-1984), Silver Circle (President (1978-1979), Washington State Retired Teachers Associations and Dr. Taylor Hospital Guilds.

Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband, Fred G. Cox, of Ellensburg. Mass of The Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, September 29, 1992 at St. Andrews Catholic Church. Family suggests memorials to the Haitian Education Fund, 935 Fawcett Avenue South, Tacoma, Washington 98402.
