Last Rite Held For William E. Davis
ESCALANTE - Funeral services for William Edmund Davis, 70, who died at his home in Escalante Friday at 8:30 p.m. from a heart attack, were held in the North Ward chapel Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of Bishop Sherman G. Eyre.
Mr. Davis, a lifelong resident of Escalante, was born June 3, 1877, a son of Edwin Weeks and Antionette Jane Justet Davis.
He filled a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Northwestern States as a young man. On October 26, 1899, he was married to Rhoda Schow in an LDS temple. He was a farmer and a brick mason.
Surviving are his widow, two sons, Elroy and William L., and a daughter, Mrs. Nelma Barker, all of Escalante; also a brother, John E. Davis, Escalante; a sister, Mrs. Emma Jane Alvey, of Boulder and eight grandchildren.
