Funeral Services Held For Rhoda Schow Davis, Escalante's Oldest Woman

Funeral services for Rhoda Schow Davis, 85, oldest woman in Escalante, were held Dec. 7, in the Escalante North ward chapel. Family prayer was by Cal G. Porter. Prelude and postlude music, Dawn Griffin; invocation, J. Clyde Spencer; song, "In The Garden", Singing Mothers; speaker, Lorenzo H. Griffin; song, "When I Take My Vacation In Heaven", Veda Mitchell and Verda Liston;; speaker, Earl Woolsey; remarks, Bishop Vernon R. Spencer; song, "Abide With Me", Singing Mothers; benediction, Lorin Cottam., The grave was dedicated by Andrew Spencer, burial was In the Escalante cemetery.


Mrs. Davis died of natural causes Dec. 4th at her home. She was born April 29, 1879 in Escalante to Andrew P. and Annie Jepsen Schow. On Oct. 26, 1899 she married William Davis in Escalante, the marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He died April 30, 1948.


She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints auxiliary organizations, and was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.


Survivors: son, daughter, William L., Mrs. Theo, (Nell) Barker, both Escalante; eight grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Schow, Gridley, Calif.; sisters: Mrs. Ellen Martin, Marysville, Calif.; Mrs. Martha Griffin, Escalante.
