Wife of Mary Elizabeth Maria Christina (Oenning) Belker (1840-1923). They were married about 1858 in Illinois. Gerhard came to the United States on the ship, "Ben Nevis", from Liverpool, England to New York, New York on June 9, 1854. His destination was Illinois. Gerhard had been in the German army for four years in the forces commanded by Emperor Wilhelm I. Gerhard was the father of nine children with Mary: John, Catherine, Elizabeth M., Bernard, Christina, Mary E., Anna Elizabeth, William G. and Henry G. Belker. Gerhard lived near and was a member of St. Anthony Church in Melrose, Adams, Illinois.

Note: His obituary was listed in the "Quincy Daily Whig" and "Quincy Daily Journal" on December 21, 1905.
