Santiago “Jimmy” Betancourt Jr., of Sweeny, Texas passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 in Houston. He was born May 9, 1945 in Edinburg, Texas. He lived in Brazoria County for over 40 years. He retired from BASF after 37 years. While retired, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling, Latin music, maintaining his manicured yard, and being a member of the Texas Heat Cookers BBQ team.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Family Life Church in Lake Jackson, Texas at 11:00 am with Pastors Robert Willis and John Price officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00am until service time on Wednesday at the church.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents Santiago and Leonor Betancourt and eldest brother, Julian Betancourt. He was married to his beloved wife, Angie, for 25 years and was the proud father of Jimmy Betancourt and wife, Jennifer of Austin, Ernest Betancourt and wife, Mosette of Lake Jackson, Terri Heiser and husband, Scott of Lake Jackson, Shirley Sizemore and husband, Kevin of Lake Jackson, Justin Betancourt and wife, Kirby of Pearland, Filimon Guel and wife, Tammy of Sugar Land, Sandra Guel of Sweeny, and Marcella Guel of San Leon. Jimmy is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 5 brothers and 6 sisters, along with a large extended family.
