John P. Schaaf, 55, Succumbs at Home
John P. Schaaf died suddenly at his home, 912 Water street, Tuesday night [8 Oct. 1940] at the age of 55.
Known generally as "Jack" Schaaf, he was a veteran employee of the Northern States Power company having worked there for 37 years. He retired from active service in June, 1938. He was a member of many railway associations, a life member of the Wisconsin Utilities association and the Electric Street Railway association.
He is survived by his widow [Ora Mae Breunig Schaaf]; two daughters, Mrs. [Lucille] Ernest Giesler and Mrs. [Kathleen] William Candell, Jr., of Eau Claire; two sons, Douglas of Stevens Point [Wis.], and Gerald, at home; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Schaaf of Eau Claire; two sisters, Mrs. [Margaret] Luebstorff of St. Paul, and Eleanor of Eau Claire, and, one brother, N. A. Schaaf of Madison [Wis.].
Funeral arrangements have not been made.

J. P. Schaaf Funeral to Be Saturday
The funeral of John P. Schaaf, 55, who died suddenly at his home, 912 Water street, this city [Eau Claire, Wis.], Tuesday night [8 Oct. 1940], will be held Saturday morning at 8 o'clock from the residence, and at 8:15 from St. Patrick's church, Rt. Rev. Msgr. C. E. Dowd officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick's cemetery.
Friends may call at the home this evening and up to the time of the funeral. Rosary devotions will be held tonight at 8:30 p.m.
