Mrs. Charles DeCoursey, Former Edina Resident, Is Buried Here Today
Mrs. Charles J. DeCoursey of Ft. Madison, Iowa, 82 years old and a former Edina resident, died at a hospital in Ft. Madison, Monday night, Aug. 9, after a long illness.
Her body was brought Tuesday evening in the Kelly funeral coach to the Kelly Funeral Home here, where Rosary was said last evening.
Funeral services were at St. Joseph Church here at 10 o'clock this morning. Mass was said by one of Mrs. DeCoursey's sons, the Rev. O. F. DeCoursey, of Fairfield, Iowa. Burial was in the new Catholic cemetery.
Mrs. DeCoursey is survived by her husband; three sons, Louis DeCoursey of San Diege, Calif, the Rev. Father DeCoursey of Fairfield and C. J. DeCoursey, Jr., of St. Louis; two brothers in Louisiana and one in Texas; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
As Fannie Blessington, daughter of Michael and Emma Blessington, Mrs. DeCoursey was born Nov. 16, 1871. She was married to Mr. DeCoursey Jan. 31, 1898, at St. Joseph Church here by the Rev. B. X. O'Riley. The family moved from here in 1923 to Ft. Madison.
When the family lived here Mrs. DeCoursey was a member and officer of St. Ann's Sodality.
