Died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 1978,
at Earl K. Long Memorial Hospital. He was 60,
a native of Ruth,Ms., and a resident of Baton
Rouge since 1945. He was owner of B.F. Auto
Sales and retired from Pipefitters Local 198.
Body at Welsh Funeral Home, with visiting
from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and from
8 a.m.Friday until sevices at 10:30 a.m.
Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae Farthing
Brister, Baton Rouge; two daughters, Mrs.
Leonard (Betty) LeBlanc,Baton Rouge, and
Mrs. Alfred (Joann) Wall Jr., Donaldsonville;
one son, Jerry Royce Brister, Rockwood,Mich;
seven sisters, Mrs. Della Beard, Jayess,Miss.,
Mrs. Annie Lee, Tylertown, Miss., Miss Laure
Brister and Mrs. Daphne Sumrall, both of
Foxworth,Miss., Mrs. Dorothy Calmes, Baton
Rouge,Mrs. Ruby Dalton, Topeka, Miss., and
Mrs.Idever Alexander, Ruth; four brothers,
Emil Brister, Jayess, Bernell Brister and
Erodean Brister, both of Rawlins, Wy., and
James Brister,Slidell: 10 grandchildren;
numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in
death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Milton Brister, and two sisters, Mrs. Melba
Alexander and Mrs.Genevieve Dalton. He was
a member of the Baptist Church. Pallbearers
will be his nephews, Durwood Powell, Scott
Farthing, J.D. Farthing, F. H. Watson, Jr.,
C.J. Brewer and Colon Alexander. His
grandsons will serve as honrary
pallbearers.
