A native of Oconee County, he was the son of the late Willie Jasper "Bill" and Verna Gladys Spencer Adams. Mr. Adams was retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked as a Rural Postal Carrier and also retired Owner of Adams Super Market. He was a member of Westminster Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon and charter member of the Blue Ridge Sunday School Class. He was a former member of the Westminster Commission of Public Works, the Westminster Rotary Club – Paul Harris Fellow, American Legion Post #107, and of the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority where he served as Chairman. Mr. Adams also was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps having served during World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Brad Adams and wife Mary Jo of Springfield, VA, Reid Adams and wife Jennifer of Westminster, and Kelly Adams and wife Penny Jo of Williamsburg, VA; daughter, Kathy Kempf and husband Ted of Easley; brother, Glen Adams of Walhalla; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Hayes Adams; and a brother, Wilton Adams.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Westminster Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oconee Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM, Thursday prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
