Alexander Hamilton Arbuckle is the son of John Marion Arbuckle and Elizabeth Phillips. He was the first of eleven children born to them: John Wesley, William Riley, Nancy, Francis Marion, Martha, Melvina H, Washington Malic, George Franklin, Emeline Esther and Matthew Howard.

In 1857, John Marion and Elizabeth Arbuckle left Jennings County, Indiana and settled in Brown Township, Hendricks County, Indiana on the farm which Alexander later owns himself.

Alexander married America Graham, daughter of Thomas Graham and Malinda Shillideay, in March 1859. They had four children: Alvin 1860, John T 1862, Ulysses Grant 1865 and Ellison 1872. America died on 10 Aug 1879.

Alexander remarried on 27 Jan 1881 to Sarah Rebecca Combs, daughter of Peter Combs and Martha Margaret Pherson, in Hendricks County, Indiana. They had one child (that I know of) Matilda "Mattie" 1882.
