Kate, with her family, were founding members of the Corpus Christi Mission in 1915, which in 1917 became South Bluff United Methodist Church. At that time she began a lifetime career of singing in the choir, an activity she thoroughly enjoyed. She became an active lifetime member of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church in 1935, teaching and serving in the various officer roles. She was active in the Sunday School and in teaching classes. She was President of the Friendship Class. Kate served on the Administrative Board and the Finance Committee of the Church. She was a devoted Church member. Her friends recall the many covered dishes Kate brought to Church functions. The Church was most important in her life. Her family was present and active in many Church activities.
In the 1920's Kate worked in the Nueces County Clerk's Office and was active in community service affairs.
Kate, a beautiful person, loved and accepted totally each family member, never criticizing or showing favoritism. Kate was preceded in death, in 1969, by her husband, O.J. ("Ole") Olson.
Visitation will be at Seaside Funeral Home from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 1999. Services will be held at South Bluff United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 23, 1999 at 2 p.m. with burial afterwards at Seaside Memorial Park. Rev. Cal Frazier, presiding, will be assisted by Rev. Pat Olson, who will deliver the eulogy.
