Samuel was an Elder in the United Presbyterian Church at West Alexander, Pennsylvania until the family moved to Washington, Pennsylvania in 1898. The family lived in Washington until about 1910 when they moved to Boise, Idaho. Samuel returned to West Alexander in 1924, where he died.
