He was initially buried in France, and his body was shipped back to Carthage in 1920, where he had a large military funeral. He was buried in Carthage, but in 1920 (error?) his body was moved to Riverside Cemetery in Huron, South Dakota, to the Graves family plot, along with the bodies of both his parents. His sister Lulu is buried there also.

Obituary is from June 5, 1921, when a service was held in Carthage at the family home, and he was buried at Pleasant View Cemetery in Carthage. Per Obit.
