Mrs. Rebecca Caldwell, widow of John J. Caldwell, a pioneer citizen of Clinton County, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Cokayne, 668 Washington Avenue, at 10 o'clock this morning. Death resulted from pneumonia with which she had been suffering for one week. She was taken ill last Friday and grew rapidly worse until her demise today.
Mrs. Caldwell was nearly 80 years old, having bee born in Butler County, Ohio, on July 12, 1832, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Price. When a young girl she removed to Indiana, settling on a farm near Kilmore. She was married to John J. Caldwell when she was 20 years old. Her husband died in 1898.

She is survived by two daughters; Mrs. Ida Cokayne of this city, and Mrs. Laura Johnson of Vincennes, Ind. One brother, John Price of Manson, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones, of Kilmore, and Mrs. Martha Misner of California, are other living relatives. The family lived for many years on afarm near Kilmore andare well known throughout the country.

Arrangement for the funeral have not been completed.
