Ralph J. Bell, 92 of Oroville, California, formerly of Holton passed away on July 29th, 2011. He was born on April 18, 1919 in Hill City, Kansas, the son of Harry E. and Nellie (Shell) Bell. He moved with his family to the Larkinburg community in 1920. He joined the Navy in January 1942 and served on the USS Upshur as an Electricians Mate First Class. He was honorably discharged in September 1945. On February 23, 1943, he married Mary A. Hinman. He worked at the Holton Power, Water and Sewage Disposal Plant until moving to California in 1965. After retirement he and Mary enjoyed traveling. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as making jewelry, picture frames, reading and many other hobbies to keep busy. Mary preceded Ralph in death on April 25, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers, Herbert, Ray, Roy and George Bell and his two sisters, Evelyn Ray (Martin) and Ethel Ray (Albert). HE is survived by: his son, R. Stanley Bell (Pam) of Chico, CA; his daughters Delores Bell of Topeka, KS, and Cynthia Kellogg of Oroville, CA; his three grandchildren, Dawn McGwin (Aaron) of Oroville, CA, Jacqi Liddiard (Don) of Paradise, CA and Becki Robins (Martin) of Rough & Ready, CA; his six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. It was Ralph and Mary's wish to be cremated and inurned together in Holton cemetery. Graveside services for both will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 15th, 2012 in Holton Cemetery. A memorial luncheon will follow at First Baptist Church in Holton where the family looks forward to shared memories of Ralph and Mary. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donating to your church or the charity of your choice.
