It was likely this Richard Archer who was a lieutenant in the Continental Line during the Revolutionary, enlisting 28 Nov 1780 and serving until the end of the war. Awarded 2666 acres, he secured a grant to 556 acres in Kentucky on the Cumberland River 10 July 1786. Richard ARcher witnessed the 1783 will of Joseph Royall. Richard married Mary Magdalene Chastain Cocke in Amelia County.
