George W. CALVERT was the son of Nimrod and Sarah CALVERT; he was born in in Jefferson County, Kentucky, Jun 21st 1846. In his early childhood the family emigrated to Greene County, Indiana, and settled in Highland Township. He was united in marriage to Miss Lorana BYRAN, March 12th 1865, and in the month of October 1879, with his family he settled in the Town of Bloomfield where he has lived with the exception of about one year until the morning of August 12th, 1891, when he quietly passed away after about three months of unparalleled suffering from Bright’s disease in its worst form; aged 45 years, 1 month and 21 days. About twenty-one years ago he embraced faith in Christ, the sinners’ friend, and was baptized into the fellowship of the regular Baptist church called concord, ten miles north of Bloomfield, by Elder Ambrose HANNAH. He was the father of nine children, seven sons and two daughters. Two of the sons preceed him to the spirit land. He leaves a companion, seven children, an aged mother, two brothers and two sisters and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn their loss, but with the comforting assurance that their loss is the eternal gain. Funeral serves conducted by the writer, assisted by Rev. A. N. ELROD, of the M. E. church and Rev. T. A. COX of the Christian church were held in the Baptist church, and the remains were borne to the tomb to await the voice of Him who said: “I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, through he were dead, yet shall he live.”—John 11:25. M. C. CLARK.
