GRACE PAULINE FILENER

Funeral services for Grace Pauline Filener will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. A visitation will follow the funeral service. Interment will take place at Summit Ridge Cemetery.

Pauline was born April 16, 1934 in Russell Springs, Kan. to the home of Johnny Cruse and Dellnora (Wright) Cruse. When she was in the 2nd grade, her family moved from Kansas to Crawford, Colo. Pauline chose to serve Jesus at the young age of 10 and remained faithful to that choice all of her life.

On August 23, 1954 Pauline married William Filener. They lived and worked on ranches in the Crawford area until 1959 when they moved their little family to LaSal, Utah. The family was on a ranch. In 1963, the family moved to Dolores, Colo. Pauline worked at the school cafeteria, The 145 Drive In and the laundry. She babysat for a few children and took very good care of her own.

In 1970, the family moved to Norwood, Colo. They lived on a ranch and then in 1972 they moved back to Dolores and to the Lebanon area in 1973. In 2016, Pauline moved into Cortez.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Dellnora Cruse; by her husband, Bill Filener; her daughters, Juanita and Deniece; her brothers, Boyd Cruse and Melvin Cruse; and by her sister, Nola Cotton. Pauline is survived by her son, Casey Filener; by her daughter, Venita Kyle and husband, Glen, all of Cortez; by her grandson, Cody Filener of McAlester, Okla.; her granddaughter, Shacey Filener of Cortez; by her great-granddaughter, Harleigh Filener of McAlester, Okla.; by her siblings, Norma Veatch and David Cruse of Grand Junction, Colo; along with many other family members and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Montezuma, Dr. Amanda Mullen, and also for the many offers of help along the way. Memorial contributions may be made in Pauline Filener's name to Hospice of Montezuma.
