Samuel was born in Windsor, Connecticut on July 23, 1691, the son of Deacon Thomas and Mary Drake Marshall. He married Abigail Phelps on July 12, 1716 in Windsor. Samuel and Abigail had eleven children, all born in Windsor. Samuel wrote his will on April 3, 1749. It was probated in January & February of 1750. It mentions his wife, though not by name, and contains a list of Samuel's eleven children. Samuel was probably buried in the Palisado cemetery, but no record exists of the burial.
