The daughter of Gerrit and Evelena (Van Ryswyk) Branderhorst, Mildred was born on March 24, 1927, near Prairie City. On November 21, 1951, she was united in marriage to William Vander Hoek. Mildred was a member at the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in the Ladies Aid. Mildred was a devoted farm wife always ready to pitch in with what ever needed to be done. She and William enjoyed their vegetable garden and her time with her family.
