First child born to Goldie Lula Bates Oaks and Edwin Martin Oaks. Married William Therman "Cy" Nearing 18 August 1930. No children. Brothers and sisters were Ercil John Oaks, Vernal; Martin LeRoy Oaks,Vernal; Pearl Oaks (born and died 19 Jun 1911); Mary Bernice Oaks Humphries (Slim or James); Audrey Oaks Johnson; Venice "Penny" Oaks Humphries (Elmer); Ivan LaVon Oaks; Harold Duane Oaks; Francis Eldon Oaks; Arvil Oaks; Gladys Oaks Page, Dinosaur Colorado.

Audrey's son spent much time with Thelma and Cy and was almost like a son to them. Nieces and nephews were often invited for sleepovers at their home and remember porridge for breakfast each morning. They always had a singing canary filling the house with song. Once a week they played cards at Ercil's and always brought treats for their four children. They operated a gas station and small store together. Their yard was always beautiful, filled with flowers. Both were bookkeepers for their own business as well as Ercil's sand and gravel company.
