Dennis DilleJohn Dennis, youngest son of Charles and Virnilla Cating Dille, was born February 1, 1869 near Aroma, Kankakee county, Illinois, and passed away June 1, 1956 at anursing home in Shell Rock, Iowa. When a child he came with his parents and the other members of his family to Ringgold county where he spent the earlier years of his life. He was married in 1898 toMargaret Ann Cornelison, whose death occurred about thirty years ago. Two daughters, Mrs. Grace Micheal and Mrs. Mary Hansen were born to this union, both of whom survive him.Mr. Dille attended Drake University in Des Moines, and was ordained a minister of the Church of Christ. He held several pastorates in Ringgold county, and about twenty years ago moved with his family to Cedar Falls, Iowa, where he made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Michael. During the time he has been away he often expressed the wish to preach once more in the little church at Benton.Since 1904 until his retirement he had served as pastor of Christian churches in Hatfield, Mo., Benton, Diagonal and Corning. At the time of his death he was a member and honorary elder of the First Christian church in Cedar Falls.He had been a member of the Iowa Order of Odd Fellows for 62 years and was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge.Since the death of his wife in 1929, he had made his home with his daughters.For the past few years he lived at Casper, Wyoming, making his home with his brother, Edward, where a niece, Elma Dille, did everything she could for their comfort and happiness in declining years. Since the death of the brother in December, 1955 he has failed in health until he was called to the heavenly home June 1. Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles and Edward, and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Williams. He is survived by his daughters, four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and three nieces.Prayer services were conducted Sunday afternoon, June 3, at 2 o'clock, from the Nelson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, with the Rev. N. O. Rogers, officiating, after which Cedar Valley Lodge No. 233, I.O.O.F., conducted its service. The body was removed to the Rhoades Funeral Home.Funeral services were conducted Monday morning of this week in the Christian church at Benton with the Rev. Harold Reel of Mount Ayr in charge. Mrs. Clifford Taylor and Mrs. Wayne Taylor sang, "The Unclouded Day", and "When They Ring Those Golden Bells For me" accompanied by Mrs. Harold Taylor.Burial was in the Benton cemetery where Flay Young of Diagonal and Marshall Matthews of Benton were in charge of impressive I. O. O. F. services. Casketbearers were Guy Cornelison, Orville Miller, Max Rice, Roy Shelden, Howard Cornelison and Homer Butler. Interment was in the Benton Cemetery."Dear one, your life is not ended.
