Unidentified newspaper obituary dated 26 February 1978: Services for Miss Florence M. Bickel, 89, of the Grace Village Retirement Center, who died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday in Miller's Merry Manor, where she had been a patient for a short time, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Winona Lake Brethren Church. She was a member of the church. Rev. Charles H. Ashman, pastor, will offficiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Friends may call today in the McHatton-Sadler Funeral Home, Warsaw and in the church one hour before services. Miss Bickel was a missionary serving in Africa from 1923 until 1958, when she retired and returned to Winona Lake. She was born on July 10, 1888, in Elkhart. She lived in Winona Lake both before she went to Africa and again for 26 years after she retired. Surviving is a nephew, Walter Metzler of Wakarusa.
