D. H. DOWLING DIES IN SPRINGFIELD
Charleston, Ill., May 5.
Dennis H. Dowling, a former deputy sheriff of Coles county, died Monday at the home of a son Zach Dowling, in Springfield, following a long illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Miller chapel here, with burial in Mound cemetery.
Mr. Dowling was 82 years old. Mrs. Dowling died in 1932. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Alverton Tinch, Mrs. Oscar Adloff and Zach Dowling, all of Springfield, and Virgil Dowling of Sullivan.
For many years Mr. Dowling was a resident of Charleston. He served at one time as deputy sheriff of Coles county and later as circuit clerk. A number of years ago he moved to Springfield and was employed in the secretary of state’s office there. After that he worked for the Central Illinois Public Service Company in Springfield. He retired several years ago.
