BILL BICKEL

BILL BICKEL, 75, of Arcola, IL passed away at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2004, at Arcola Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main Street in Arcola, IL. Rev. Margaret Misal will officiate. Burial with military rites conducted by the Mattoon American Legion Post 88 and the Mattoon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4325 will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2004 at the funeral home.

Bill was born July 6, 1928 in Arcola, IL. He was a son of Charles Henry and Beulah Catherine (Wilkins) Bickel Sr. He married Lucille Williamson on December 18, 1954 in Effingham, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Bickel of Arcola, IL; two sons, Dick Bickel and his wife Sharon of Arcola, IL and Steve Bickel and his wife Teri of Charleston, IL; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother Charles H. Bickel Jr. of Mattoon, IL and one sister, Phyllis Gallagher of Tuscola, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Mattoon American Legion Post 88 where he served as past commander. He was also a member of the American Legion 40-et-8 of Mattoon, IL, as well as the Sons of the American Legion. He had been a member of the Mattoon Eagles Club and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Bill was a member of the Arcola United Methodist Church.

Bill has worked in the field of motel and apartment management for over 30 years.

Memorial may be made to Lincolnland Hospice.
