Arie Van Ryswyk was born in Union County, Iowa on January 30, 1899, the son of Dirk and Dena (Bierman) Van Ryswyk. He was married on April 1, 1925 to Irene Vande Lune who preceded him in death on August 25, 1940.

In the last few yeas he was a member of the First Reformed Church of Prairie City.

In 1964 he retired from the Maytag Co. of Newton having been employed there many years.

Mr. Van Ryswyk died at the scene of a car-truck accident on Iowa 117, 3 miles north of Colfax.
