She was born in 1689 in Rhode Island. Her parents were Joseph Williams Sr. & Lydia Olney Williams of Rhode Island. She was the first wife of Rev. George A. Ross (1680 Scotland to 1755 Delaware) & married about about 1706 in New Castle, Delaware. George & Joanna were the parents of 6 known living children. She is believed to have died right after child birth. Their graves are both known to be at the Immanuel Episcopal Church in New Castle, Delaware with plaques inside the church. Some of their children are also buried there. Rev. George A. Ross married again about 1728 to Catherine Von Gezel (1689 to 1748). George & Catherine were the parents of 7 known living children. Their daughter Gertrude Ross Read is also buried there. The children of George & Joanna Ross were: David (1708-??), Margaret (1712-??), John (1714-1776), Aeneas (1716-1782), Ann (1719-??) and Jacob (1726-??) Ross.
