Alverta J. "Birdie" (Arble) Chestnut, 68, of Kittanning, peacefully went into the arms of her husband at heaven's gate on Monday Sept. 23, 2013, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 18, 1944, in Kittanning, to the late George and Minnie (Hooks) Arble. She was the eldest of 10 children. She married the love of her life, Darrell Chestnut, on June 4, 1965, and mourned his passing on Nov. 8, 2012. They raised two children in a home full of love and laughter, leaving precious memories for daughter, Anita (Chestnut) Faulx-Boshinsky (friend, Douglas Walbert) and her two children, Gilbert and Nikkilynn, of Ford City; son, Douglas (Jean) Chestnut and their children, Paige and Wyatt, of Kittanning; brothers, Tom (Pat), Lee (Connie) and Randy (Betty); and sisters, Sharon (Tom) and Becky. She always opened her home to many others, never turning away a friend in need, helping to raise numerous nieces and nephews, also including James Dowell (Judy), of Ford City. She loved children and baby-sitting, crafts, sewing and baking. She was a member of Christ Community Chapel in Clearfield Township. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Jack Faulx Jr., on Jan. 22, 1993, and Robert Boshinsky, on Jan. 22, 2012; and brothers, Chuck, George, Ronnie and Sam. Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Kittanning.
