Dixie Hunnicutt 87-year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 in the Woodward Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2007 in the Elm Street Baptist Church with the Reverend Mark Kurzel officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Dixie (Palmer) Hunnicutt was born on April 4, 1920 in Gerty, Oklahoma on the family farm to Arthur Ray and Alice Palmer. She spent her early childhood in Calvin where she attended a small country school. Dixie was united in marriage to Hugh "Harold" Clemens and they made their home outside of Stuart, Oklahoma. To this union two children were born, Cody and Scarlett. The family moved often because of Harold's job. Harold preceded Dixie in death on July 29, 1961.
Dixie was united in marriage to Wiley Edward Hunnicutt in June of 1962 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They moved to Woodward in 1966 and have continued living here since that time. She was preceded in death by Wylie on December 25, 2004.
She loved to dance and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was one of a kind who will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her daughter Scarlett LaNoy and husband Frankie of Yukon; one son Cody Clemens and wife Wanda of Holdenville; one brother Ray Palmer and wife Deana of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
